In March, we are discussing Sustainable Food, and how people can reduce food waste in a variety of ways, including buying and storing food wisely, sharing unwanted food through our community fridges, growing your own whether at home or in an allotment, and composting advice.

3 March - Cultivation Street Week; council and community allotments

7 March - Cultivation Street Week; window box growing

11 March - Compost Awareness Week; benefits of composting

17 March - Food Waste Action Week; buying loose fruit and veg

20 March - Food Waste Action Week; sharing food through community fridges, pantries and larders

26 March - Buy local produce

You can read a summary of this sustainable food message on our climate blog here:

https://www.horsham.gov.uk/climate-and-environment/news/articles/lets-make-our-food-choices-sustainable

The purpose of this information is to help our residents learn about the small practical actions they can take to start reducing their impact on the environment, as well as reducing their food bills, in the hopes of addressing climate change. We also want to highlight community initiatives, so that people can work together in this goal. This work also links into the Parish and Neighbourhood Climate Action Network, a working group to which many of you send representatives, that is working towards climate action at a Parish and Neighbourhood level.
